Modular Power Features & Benefits
What are modular power supplies?
Modular power supplies, which can be switching, linear, or unregulated,
are simply standalone AC-DC or DC-DC power sources. Acopian’s
modular power supplies come in many different sizes from very small
footprint (2.5" x 3.5") Mini Encapsulated power supplies to larger
benchtop, rack and wall mount models. Power source and load connections
can be made using screw terminals, pluggable terminal blocks with
clamping screws, lugs, solder pins, or some combination, depending on
form factor and wattage characteristics. They can be mounted in several
different ways including PC board, DIN rail, or by using one of
Acopian’s many mounting kits to
rear-, bottom-, or side-mount many of these power supplies.
Why use modular power supplies?
Modular power supplies are ideal for myriad applications because their
rugged enclosures provide durable protection from harsh environments and
safety from shock hazard for the user. These power supplies are also
considered “low risk” as they are built using time-tested
designs and currently being used in many different industries and
applications. Another benefit of choosing these supplies is short lead
times. Many Acopian power modules ship within 3 days of order and carry
a 5-year warranty. Customers will also have a lower likelihood of
encountering technical problems using these modular units, as
modified-standard and custom offerings, being “one-off” or
low quantity, often require some attention in their development and
early stages of use.
